Khet Bachao Abhiyaan awareness campaign conducted at Liwa Sarei and Liwa Khullen villages of Chandel district of Manipur

        A Khet Bachao Abhiyaan awareness campaign was successfully conducted at Liwa Sarei and Liwa Khullen villages of Chandel district of Manipur with the objective of promoting sustainable agriculture, balanced use of fertilizers, and natural farming practices among farmers. The programme aimed to create awareness on protecting agricultural land and improving soil health for long-term productivity.
        The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers of both villages. At Liwa Sarei, a total of 114 participants attended the programme, comprising 46 male and 68 female farmers. At Liwa Khullen, 94 farmers attended, including 38 male and 56 female participants. Altogether, 208 farmers participated in the awareness campaign.
        The programme was attended by Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, Senior Scientist and Head; Shri Lovejoy, District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Chandel; Ts. Leenda Monsang, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Breeding); and Ps. Lavid Anal, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture). The resource persons shared valuable insights and technical knowledge on sustainable farming practices.
        During the programme, the experts highlighted the importance of Khet Bachao Abhiyaan in conserving agricultural lands and maintaining soil fertility. Farmers were educated on the balanced use of fertilizers, emphasizing the need to apply nutrients according to crop requirements and avoid excessive use of chemical fertilizers. The benefits of integrating organic manures and bio-fertilizers for improving soil health were also discussed.
        The experts further promoted natural farming as an eco-friendly and cost-effective approach to agriculture. Farmers were encouraged to utilize locally available natural inputs and adopt practices that reduce dependence on synthetic chemicals. An interactive session was held where farmers shared their experiences and raised queries related to crop cultivation and soil management. The programme concluded with a pledge by the participants to adopt sustainable agricultural practices for enhanced productivity and environmental conservation.
